Glowing Beads and UV Rays

In Hands on Science this week, the children learned about different types of rays. The younger ones had the opportunity to make bracelets from beads, go outside to place them in the sun and see how the beads changed due to the UV rays. Not only was this a fun lesson, but an informative one as well. The teacher also taught on the importance of protection from the sun's powerful UV rays, and taught about other types of electromagnetic radiation wavelengths. The children had a blast watching how something as invisible as the sun's rays, could change something visible in the beads they held in their hands.
