Hi everyone,

This week, we explored the fascinating world of winter precipitation. The children learned about the different types of winter weather, how they form, and what they are made of. While we briefly talked about several types of precipitation, our main focus was snow and how it connects to the water cycle.
To bring the lesson to life, we started with a fun and creative activity. Each child received a small cup of “snow” and was encouraged to use their imagination to build or shape something. It was wonderful to see the variety of creations the children came up with—from tiny snow piles to imaginative shapes and designs.
Next, we moved on to a special experiment. With adult supervision, the children helped make their own edible snow. After preparing their snow, they added a bit of fruit syrup to enjoy a sweet treat. The children loved being part of the process and were excited to taste what they made.
This activity allowed the children to:
Explore how snow forms as part of the water cycle
Practice creativity and fine motor skills
Participate in a hands-on science experiment
Experience learning through sensory play and taste
It was a fun and memorable way to combine science, creativity, and a little sweetness. The children had a wonderful time experimenting, creating, and learning about the magic of snow! ❄️
To extend the learning, here are a few questions you can ask your child at home:
What is snow made of?
How does snow form in the sky?
What did you create with your cup of snow?
What did your edible snow taste like?
Can you remember one step in the water cycle?
Talking about classroom experiences at home helps children strengthen their understanding and build confidence as they share what they learned.
