Bubbles and Electricity!

So today we did an experiment that consisted of a battery, alligator clips, graphite in a pencil, and saltwater to conduct electricity. They are connected to create an electrical circuit. By submerging the pencil tips in water, it closes the circuit so electricity starts to flow. At one tip the molecules of water (H20) rearrange to create oxygen (O2) bubbles and on the other tip Hydrogen (H2) bubbles are produced. This is very similar on what happens aboard the International Space Station (ISS), except the hydrogen gets pumped into space

as it is very flammable.
