This October, we kept with a classic October tradition by working with pumpkins! Here at Berkeley Academy, we helped students carve pumpkins, complete with their own designs.

After students completed their pumpkins, we did the classic science experiment of a baking soda volcano — but inside their pumpkins! We taught them the basics of how this experiment worked, then demonstrated it to them. They were delighted to see their pumpkins erupt, with foam spewing out of the top and face of the pumpkin.

Then, using the pumpkin guts, we taught students how to make their very own slime. By having them mix the pumpkin guts with a few ingredients, they were able to create a very unique slime to play with.
